DEWALT DC930KA 14.4-Volt, Torque, Like you won’t..

Torque, Like you won’t believe

I have been most impressed with the DeWalt line of driver/drills since I first purchased one over 13 years ago. Amazed then and even more amazed with 930 Heavy Duty model. It has three main speed choices. That equates to torque. In the number 3 setting and setting to screw, and not set the clutch, this cannot be stopped by mortal men. Like all other guys, I will set the clutch to see just how powerful and what sort of muscle power it takes to stop the drill. Okay, I was able to stop at the highest setting. I felt that power and was reminded of Tim Allen’s character “Tim -’the tool man’ Taylor” of Tool Time fame. This IS the driver/drill that both Tim and Al would approve of. I usually use square drive screws when making sure that items stay together and this driver/drill fills the bill. A neighbor, a power lifter who is very strong, could not stop this beauty, even with his lifting gloves on when put into drill mode. As far as long term capabilities, I can only comment on my original DeWalt driver drill. It’s still going strong with the 14.4 volt batteries and I don’t feel the need to go to 18 volt or even higher. I have a large inventory of 14.4 tools from DeWalt and don’t see a need to go to the larger voltage models. I have friends in the construction trades who agree with me on this.

Update (2/8/2012): This item is currently on sale here for the lowest price I’ve seen. I also found some auctions for this item here.

Not so bad
I tried hard to find something negative to say about this drill kit. But I could not. I especially like the positive grip of the chuck–an improvement over the old 14.4 Dewalt drill I had.
